New Year's Eve 2011 ~ Fun Ideas For Staying At Home Tonight
Since this is my first New Year's Eve with you all, I wanted to share
some fun ideas with those of you who are like me
& like to stay in on New Year's Eve.
I cannot remember going out on New Year's Eve ever....well perhaps
once. But I'm pretty sure the sheer craziness of the night & people
is what geared me to stay at home all the NYE since.
That and the fact that ever since my oldest, Jackson, was born I like
to give my children a kiss on the head at midnight on NYE.
Here are some really neat ideas to keep you all entertained
and sane for this long evening. Well this is my plan at least =D
Countdown Goodie Bags from Hoosier Homemade-I am so excited to make these for the kiddos
& I may even make some for Geoffrey & I too.
And Kellicrowe has a tutorial on keeping a time capsule throughout the year~ fabulous! I
think we will start one tonight for 2012!
And for hour by hour fun how does she shares this cute idea.
Six in the Suburbs has an easy diy party popper favor.
Now what's a party without some food, so here's what I will be making
Ham & Cheese Crescent Roll Ups -easy for the kids
Baked Potato Skins anyone?
& Chili (like at Wendy's) I will post my altered recipe after I make a batch today
but you can find the base recipe here
Homemade Cinnamon Chips with Fruit Salsa are always a hit
as is Cowboy Caviar
and a few sweets too
like fudge, mmm you can find a flawless recipe here
or if you like rice pudding
These Chocolate Crinkles look yummy too.
OK so that's all I have for now. I hope you all have a
Happy New Year
Be safe! ;)
Much Love
~Iffy~

Surprise Giveaway!!! #7 ~ Etchworld ~NOW CLOSED & How to etch a jar
This giveaway is now closed.
Thank you again to Etchworld
CONGRATULATIONS to #3 ~Mrs. A~ I'd love to see what you etch.
Thank you to all who entered & check out my weekly giveaways(every Monday)
XoXo
Surprise!! I wanted to do a pop giveaway today just for fun!
This giveaway is a prize pack from Etchworld
They are currently running a Christmas in July sale so check that out,
but they are also giving my readers an additional 5% off at checkout when you use the code
july2011 (no caps!)
One of my readers will win this awesome prize pack which includes
*a book about glass etching, with everything you need to know on how to etch
*a book about glass cutting
*1 bottle of Blue Etch(with design tip)so you can draw your own words or images or add detail
*1 blank sheet of reusable stencil material (custom make a stencil in a cutting machine)
*1 sheet of rub on letter stencils (Old Endlish Letters)
Plus additional information on all they have to offer.
First let me show you how to etch a jar using stencils.
I tried my hand at stenciling & I personally like how it turned out.
This was my first time with using etch cream(Armor Etch)
I used a mason jar & the Over n Over stencil letters
Start with a clean, dry jar. These letters we so easy to work with because they
just stick right on....
NOTE: make sure they are side by side with each other & don't leave any spacing like I did.
Just peel it off gently & reposition.
Yes I am preparing a jar so I can make attempt to make my own pickles.
Tape around the edges & anything you don't want etched.
You will need to wear gloves & be in a well ventilated area per the directions.
Keep away from children and pets!
With a paintbrush layer on the etch cream so you can no longer see the stencil.
Start timing......60 seconds exactly!
I did mine at the kitchen sink & ran the water until it warmed since you need to
rinse with warm water when time is up & you don't want to
be waiting on the cold water to heat up once your time is up.
OK so at this point I rinsed & rubbed gently with my still gloved finger,
dried it with a paper towel & saw that it wasn't as etched as I would like.
So simple enough, on went another coat & another 60 seconds later,
We have a pickle jar! =D
Sorry it's hard to see but it is just so sunny today that everywhere
I tried to take a picture there was glare, so I put it in front of my foodsaver to see.
Rinse your stencils under warm water & stick them back on the original sheet & they are ready to use again when you are! How convenient is that?

So... what was the coolest thing you have etched?
That's the question....(or what would you like to etch)

I first saw these over at I Could Make That and thought these are so cute & the kids would love this.
So we made some. Perfect for the summer reading they are going to be doing......soon.
They are so great because they can be personalized to whatever your child likes.
(color, print, animal, team colors-get creative)

Happy Father's Day!! Cute & Easy Last Minute Card for Dad
Happy Father's Day to the awesome father's out there! Especially to my husband,
my dad, my brother, my "Papa"& my father-in-law.
Look at this cute & easy card for Dad, Grandpa, or any father you know & love.
I was inspired by one I saw on Kiboomu
I made some of these for my 20month old, Michaela, & my 2 yr old nephew to give
the "fathers in their lives".
It's great for little ones who can't write yet since it gives such a personal touch.
First trace a hand onto construction paper(or craft paper)
Fold it over and cut out.
Now you have 2 hands.(I did this 3 times so grandfathers get one too)
Cut a long strip of paper and write your message of "I love you this much!!"
Glue the back of the end(right side) to one of your cut out paper hands
then accordion fold it and when you get to the end of the left side,
glue that to the other hand.
I used white elmer's glue.
Hold them to dry for a minute and then open them to dry the rest of the way.
I made the mistake of keeping them closed to dry and when I opened them they were stuck....
I had to tear them some to open all the way. (Learn from my mistake)
Write your message on the front & the inside of your hands however you like.
I like to put the year on my cards, so on these I put it on the back.
So simple, & so cute. Now go make some with your kiddies to give to dad =D
I'm off to make a coconut cake for my husband so he can enjoy it after dinner.
Much love

DIY Tile Coasters & My Favorite Things Link Party~ #3
So Father's Day is Sunday, have you made something for the "fathers" in your life yet?
If not, here is a simple yet usefulcraft gift that you still have time to make.
DIY Tile Coasters-great idea right?
Perfect for even the hardest man to give to.
I came across this idea over at living with lindsay
she has a really great blog you should check out if you haven't already.
I didn't take pictures through the process because,
well I made them before I started blogging so
check out lindsay's tutorial here for more details & great tips!
Basically,
Paint your tiles with a layer of ModPodge
then lay your craft paper(which is cut slightly smaller than your tiles) ontop,
smooth down & let dry.
Then apply your ModPodge top coats(personal preference as to how many).
Stick felt pads to corners of underside &
you're done!
A fabulous gift your dad, husband, or any other father you know will sure to love.
Please come link up to My Favorite Things Party #3
